Private Vacation Villa In Tortola

Little Bay, Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Golden Pavilion – A Private Villa in the Heart of the British Virgin Islands

Privately situated on four gated acres perched above quiet and secluded Little Bay, Tortola. This illustrious 5000 square foot, Balinese-inspired villa has four bedrooms and four and a half baths in the main house and an additional Guest Cottage apartment with its own kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom.

The property features stunning 180-degree ocean views, a heated infinity pool, a hot tub, an outdoor gas fire pit, a second-floor gallery with a wet bar and pool table, a media room with a large flat-screen TV and surround sound, an office with fax/pc/wireless internet, a fully equipped gym, air conditioning in all primary rooms and a private chef.

Traditional Indonesian sculptures, art, and furnishings fill the public spaces, and the villa is decorated with a refined, distinctly British-Colonial flair. All bedrooms are elegantly appointed with imported four-poster beds, exotic fabrics, and heavy blackout draperies. Spa services are also available, and boating and other outings can be arranged for additional enjoyment.

Located on the east end of Tortola, Golden Pavilion Villa (GPV) is a 7-minute walk from secluded Little Bay Beach and a 15-minute drive to Road Town. Direct ocean access is available from the property for the adventuresome. The estate manager lives in a nearby property and will assure your privacy while providing for your needs.

Airport greetings, baggage transfers, rental car facilitation, and escort to the estate by the house manager will ease your arrival. Just 15 minutes from the airport, a long, winding dirt road leads you to a gated and secure entry. The driveway serpentines through the extensively landscaped property, down the hillside to the arrival courtyard. Complimentary arrival drinks and snacks will be served followed by an introductory tour.

Golden Pavilion Villa is a unique property, unparalleled in Tortola. The villa presents Zen tranquillity and privacy juxtaposed with modernity and meticulous details. Walking gardens, paths leading to sunken stone retreats, and sitting areas nestled under mature plantings at the cliff’s edge. Tropical birds ride warm breezes up the cliff to sip from the infinity pool. Turtles, rays, and the occasional whale can be seen from the deck. Breathtaking views complement the highest building standards with imported granites, marbles, fittings, appliances, and furnishings; Golden Pavilion comforts the eye and soothes the soul.

Activities

Powdery white-sand beaches, lush green mountains, and sheltered yacht-filled harbours characterise the island of Tortola, where the West Indies’ past meets the BVI’s present. The largest island in the chain, Tortola, offers a variety of exciting vacation possibilities. There are also many well-equipped facilities for scuba diving and horseback riding. Wander through centuries-old ruins and our own tropical rain forest, relax around the pool, on the rocks in a sheltered spot, or lounge on nearby Little Bay beach. Explore Tortola’s many and varied restaurants and bars. Take in some history at the BVI Folk Museum in Road Town.

Main Street in Road Town, the capital city, offers everything from local spices, jams, rums, and soaps to hand-crafted jewellery, silk-screened fabrics, and local art. The cuisine of Tortola reflects the island’s rich cultural mix, whether it’s a four-star dinner at a converted sugar mill or a delicious West Indian roti at a pastel-painted cottage. Local delicacies such as fresh lobster, conch, spicy goat, curries, and Johnny Cakes make each meal memorable.

Outdoor Features

The centrepiece and one of the defining features of Golden Pavilion Villa is the heated infinity pool. Majestically centred on the ocean-facing deck, with views east, north, and west, the 20×40’ pool will be your daily focus. Overlooking the pool and the views beyond is the 16’ carved Balinese dining table with seating for 10. Additional cocktail seating for 8 is available poolside for breakfast, afternoon tea, or after-dinner drinks. Additional children’s seating is available indoors.

The entry courtyard is one of the villa’s unique elements. Covered with Jerusalem Gold stone and lined with imported Balinese footlights and statues, the courtyard is monitored by a hand-carved, 1000lb stone Buddha who ensures perfect Karma for all entering. The elevated entry pavilion with carved seating and comfortable cushions is trimmed on three sides by the lily and frog pond. Gentle-coloured lights bathe imported statues and stone wall interiors at night. The courtyard is not just a pass-through to the house, it is a destination and a wonderful place to read and relax.

Landscaping at Golden Pavilion is taken as seriously as architectural and interior design. From the moment you approach the driveway’s security gate, one can sense something special resides beyond. Native ornamental plants line the road with complementary colours, sizes, and textures. From ground shrubs bursting with tropical tones to towering palms of several varieties, you will appreciate the planning and meticulous care given to this facet of the estate. Walking paths through the fruit orchard invites exploration, and fresh pineapple, guava, avocado, banana, lime, and other trees provide your chef with many options. Additional paths and steps on the sea-facing side provide options for the meek and adventuresome. Wander just below the pool to a stone seating nook with a table for drinks under a shady tree with massive views. To the west is an alternate route that leads directly to the ocean. A protected swimming grotto at the cliff’s bottom is available to the more daring, but venture only when the north swell is dormant. Other paths to the east lead through the native brush to secret destinations with incredible views and ocean breezes. Off the property, just a few minutes by car or foot is the stunning Little Bay Beach. Frequently empty due to the challenging road that connects it to the outside world, this beach is beyond description. Perfect white sand from end to end terminates in towering cliffs. Not a single rock, pebble, coral, seaweed, or other undesirable standing in the way of your bathing pleasure. The sand is perfect, and you can be confident leaving your water shoes at home. Watch as gulls and pelicans bombard the waters from their cliffside perches for tropical fish. Swim to the east just beyond the point and enter a magical sea cave with crystal clear water and rocks crawling with crabs. Conditions vary from flat water to the occasional crashing waves designed for boogie and body surfing that will leave you exhausted, well-salted, and ready for a cool beverage.

Travel Directions

Tortola is the largest of the British Virgin Islands and is situated just northeast of St. Thomas and St. John, USVI. The local airport at Beef Island can be reached by regularly scheduled flights on American Eagle connecting through San Juan, Puerto Rico. Private group and individual charters are available through connections in St. Thomas and most other Caribbean airports. Tortola may also be reached via ferry service from neighbouring islands. Private non-stop jet travel from most locations can be arranged upon request.

The house manager will greet guests at the airport or ferry dock, who will arrange for baggage transfers and rental cars. Due to the unpaved access road, a sturdy 4-wheel drive vehicle is highly recommended. Additional transfer capacity is available in GPV’s 9-seat Land Rover Defender station wagon. Greetings and an introductory tour will accompany a welcome drink and snack.
